Definition of information component vs information product
Last Updated 10 months ago

An information component is a generic term to design a data structure. It can be an abstract component like a resource or an information product or a concrete record like the discharge letter of Mr X.

Information products extract elements from the data model so they can be exchanged. A example of information product is a consultation report: it presents data captured during the specialist consultation (ex using the resources Problem, Observation) and presents them so they can be exchanged with the referring general practitioner. Like for a Care Set, it might be important to specify business rules on how to build specific Belgian information products like discharge letters, procedure reports, etc.
