Frequently Asked Question
Definition of what is a "metadata"?
Last Updated a year ago
A metadata is a data element used to define or describe another data element.
In the context of a document, metadata, also known as document references, can be used to identify the content of a document without opening up its detailed content. As metadata can be defined for any type of medium, it can also be used to provide a standardised view of content that is not standardised, and can therefore be used to reference a pdf, a scanned document or an image, for example.
