Frequently Asked Question
What is a business rule
Last Updated 2 years ago
Business rules are rules on how to implement the care set data models and value lists, that are given
- to the implementers to ensure the applications they write will handle the care sets information in a safe, interoperable way
and/or
- to the care providers who will be encoding the information, so they would have clear, unambiguous rules about the meaning of each field and the field to use to record each clinical meaning to avoid the creation of nonsense combinations
The business rules make it possible to constrain, control and/or help to encode the information in the Care Sets correctly. They reduce the impact of the risk of incorrect encoding and increase the quality of encoded data.
An example of business rules document can be found here with the AllergyIntolerance care set.
